From 11 - 21 August, the European Championships Munich 2022 will unite nine European Championships under one roof, making it the largest multi-sport event in Germany since the 1972 Olympic Games. Unfortunately, with an event of this magnitude, traffic disturbances at the venues and along the competition routes are an unavoidable part of the event.
In particular, there will be closures and traffic routing changes for the road cycling events, the road events in athletics, the competitions in the city centre of Munich and the triathlon (age group and elite). The documents below provide an overview of the affected residential areas as well as the detailed closure times. Please note that the information is only available in German.
In general, the police ask all residents not to park their cars on the closed roads. Those who depend on their cars on competition days are kindly asked to use parking areas outside the event area. It is advisable to use the underground and S-Bahn. Buses and trams may be impeded. The MVG will react flexibly and maintain regular services at least on partial routes up to the closed areas. Further information on the modified timetables will be available in the MVG app, on the MVG website and via the MVG hotline 0800 344 22 66 00.
Residents can email firstname.lastname@example.org with any queries. An additional hotline will be open during the event days - the number and respective availability can be found in the residents' information.
The organisers apologise for any inconvenience caused and sincerely thank all concerned for their understanding.
