Mountain bike Cross-Country

The Olympiapark also serves as the venue for the men's and women's mountain bike cross-country races. Along the lake, up the hill, down the hill, through the park - there is no time for sightseeing for the athletes when rushing through the terrain.

The course

For Munich 2022, a unique mountain bike course will be built in the heart of the iconic Olympiapark. It will take advantage of the natural landscape of Olympiapark, paired with purpose-built obstacles, like rockgardens, wallrides and bridges to name a few. Construction will take place between late July and mid-August. In front of the start/finish area, a temporary bridge over the Olympiasee (Olympic Lake) will be implemented. The level of the event will be equivalent to an Olympic or World Cup/Championships MTB XCO race.

  • Length: 4.27 km

The mountain bike competitions in cross-country are mass start races over a circular course of about 4 km - prepared with technical passages such as rock gardens, drops, root passages, etc. The riders bike full speed through the Olympic Park for around 90 minutes and whoever crosses the finish line first after the specified number of laps will be the new European Champion.
