Nine European Championships under one roof

Nine existing European Championships of the continent’s leading sports are united into one multi-sport event to create a must-watch, must-attend experience that elevates the Champions of Europe. Following the success of the inaugural European Championships in Berlin and Glasgow in 2018, Europe’s best athletes will once again be competing for the highest accolade of their sport on the continent – the title of European champion – in Munich in 2022.

By hosting the European Championships Munich 2022, the Bavarian state capital will welcome the biggest sporting event since the 1972 Olympic Games. With the sports programme extended to nine Olympic sports, the bar has been raised even higher for the second edition. From 11-21 August 2022, more than 4,700 elite athletes will fight for glory in Athletics, Beach Volleyball, Canoe Sprint, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rowing, Sport Climbing, Table Tennis, and Triathlon.

Our Vision

Munich 2022 leaves an inspiring and lasting legacy to all participants, the City of Munich and future sport events.

With the historic Olympic locations in the spotlight, Munich 2022 will primarily use pre-existing infrastructure and venues, setting an example in terms of sustainability. Short commutes between the venues and excellent public transport will further minimalize the impact on the city and its surroundings. Munich Olympiapark will be at the heart of the event, celebrating its 50th anniversary by using the same principles on which the park was built: a concentration of top sports in one complex, in the heart of Munich and with near-unlimited possibilities to create an outstanding event and festival feeling for all athletes, visitors and fans.

Our Mission

We unite outstanding experiences and performances under one roof. Munich 2022 stands for unexpected, unforgettable moments of happiness.

Our Values

We are creating a long-lasting and positive impact, that will persist much longer than Munich 2022. We are doing this by focusing on sustainable concepts, products and venues.

Apart from sporting highlights, Munich Olympiapark has become synonymous with hosting some of the biggest names and events in entertainment, with its various event locations and their versatility being the recipe for the park’s success. It will be no exception in 2022, as “The Roofs – Festival of Munich 2022” will complete the overall experience.

Whilst leaving its own legacy, Munich 2022 will be another milestone in an already impressive heritage – one that will continue to have chapters added to it, long after the heroes of 2022 have their names etched into the Munich Olympiapark chronicles alongside the likes of Mark Spitz, Franz Beckenbauer and Bono.
