The surrounding countryside of the Bavarian capital equally provides a real tourism boom with its idyllic lakes and rivers as well as the picturesque view of the Bavarian Alps. The rural flair is also reflected in the Upper Bavarian towns of Fürstenfeldbruck, Landsberg and Murnau, making them ideal partner towns for the European Championships Munich 2022 as the starting venues for the UEC Road European Championships, where the top European stars such as Lisa Klein (GER) and Mathieu van der Poel (NED) will race for a total of four gold medals. The women's elite road race starts in Landsberg, the men's elite in Murnau. Next year, both races will connect the two tourist attractions, city centre and surroundings, leading through the foothills of the Alps to Munich, where the finish line will be at Odeonsplatz after several final laps through the city centre. The time trial events of the men's and women's elite will be held in Fürstenfeldbruck.Nine exciting and spectacular European Championships will take place as part of the biggest multi-sport event since the 1972 Olympic Games in and around Munich. From 11-21 August 2022, more than 4,700 athletes will compete for gold, silver, and bronze in 176 medal events in the Bavarian capital. Hardly any other sport is as multifaceted as cycling. 30 titles are on the agenda of the UEC Road European Championships. 22 medals will be awarded in track cycling, two each in mountain bike cross-country and BMX freestyle and four in road cycling. Women and men will each compete in the road race and time trial.&nbsp;

<h2 class="ql-align-justify">Women's Elite Road Race: From Landsberg am Lech to Munich</h2>The women's elite road race will start in Landsberg. After a short loop through the centre of the medieval Bavarian town on the ‘Romantic Road’, the 130-kilometre course will take the riders past the southern ends of Lake Ammersee and Lake Starnberg via Wolfratshausen and its hill on the B11 road to Munich. The athletes have to master 690 metres of altitude difference before they arrive at the foot of the Friedensengel after 104 kilometres along the Isar, where the final city laps will begin.

<h2 class="ql-align-justify">Men's Elite Road Race: From Murnau a. Staffelsee to Munich</h2>The men's race will start with an opening lap through the colourful pedestrian zone of Murnau - the heart of the town. From the ‘Blue Land’, the 209-kilometre route will lead over hill Kesselberg along Lake Walchen and, with the Alpine panorama as a backdrop, through the Jachenau, Lenggries, Bad Tölz, Geretsried and Eurasburg to Münsing, Berg and via road Olympiastraße to the Bavarian capital. After 144 kilometres and 1,050 metres of elevation gain, the men's field will turn onto the finishing lap at the Friedensengel.

<h2 class="ql-align-justify">Final showdown in the city centre</h2>The final showdown of the two road races will take place on a technically demanding 13-kilometre circuit through Munich's city centre. The finish laps begin with a loop around the Friedensengel and continue along Prinzregentenstraße and Ludwigstraße around the Siegestor and on towards Theresienwiese. After the peloton passes the Bavaria, the course takes them through the city centre back to the Siegestor. After two full laps in the women's race and five in the men's race, the eyes will turn to Ludwigstraße and the finish at Odeonsplatz, where breakaways will cap their performance or the best road cyclists will sprint for the European Championship title.

The start and finish of the time trial is one of the town's most famous sights - the former Cistercian Monastery of Fürstenfeld. From there, the course first leads to Biburg and Schöngeising. Via the country road, the course continues to Landsberied and via Jesenwang back to the baroque abbey. On the 24-kilometre route with an altitude difference of 180 metres, every second will decide about gold, silver, and bronze.

The tasks are as interesting as they are varied. The European Championships Munich 2022 offer a wide range of roles across 16 different volunteer areas, including medical services, spectator services, guest management, as well as sports and competition based roles.&nbsp;In order to meet the demand for this wide range of tasks as well as the large number of volunteers, a strong partner is needed. Rosterfy will not only provide the registration procedure, but also help us with other aspects of our volunteer management, such as communication, role assignment, interviews, training, and the check-in process during event days.

The organising committee is launching a mascot-competition for children aged 3 to 13. The children can set their creativity free and either paint or craft their mascot. The suggestions can be submitted to the organizing committee until 30 May 2021.

The organizing committee of the European Championships Munich 2022 is calling on all children aged 3 to 13 to get creative and to bring their mascot&nbsp;ideas&nbsp;to life. The design could be a drawing or bricolage and can be submitted to the organizing committee. The mascot must be able to walk upright and be athletic. Everything else is up to the “up-and-coming artists”, who can live out their playfulness and creativity with the low given restrictions. The vibrant colour scheme mirrors the joy and versatility of the European Championships 2022. The nine sports are represented by illustrated athletes in an energetic pose. Der 8. Februar 2021 ist ein Meilenstein im Vorfeld der European Championships Munich 2022. Münchens Oberbürgermeister Dieter Reiter und Marion Schöne, Geschäftsführerin Olympiapark München GmbH, luden zum ersten Meeting des Honorary Boards ein. Moderatorin Anouschka Horn führte durch die virtuelle Veranstaltung und stellte zusammen mit der Gastgeberin und dem Gastgeber den hochkarätigen Board-Mitgliedern um Stephan Mayer, Parlamentarische Staatssekretär des Bundesministeriums des Innern, für Bau und Heimat, Dr. Markus Söder, Ministerpräsident des Freistaates Bayern, und Joachim Herrmann, Bayerns Staatsminister des Innern, für Sport und Integration, die Vision und Mission, den Planungsstand und erste Zahlen und Fakten der Sportveranstaltung vor.

Joining Athletics, Gymnastics, Rowing, Cycling and Triathlon on the schedule will be Sport Climbing, Canoe Sprint, Table Tennis and Beach Volleyball.The Federal Minister of the Interior, Building and Community Horst Seehofer says: "Munich provides world-class conditions for elite international sport, which will be demonstrated in 2022 when this city plays host to the European Championships. In late April, the Munich city council gave the green light for the European Championships to be expanded to nine sports – instead of the original seven – while maintaining the same budget.Dieter Reiter, Lord Mayor of the City of Munich:“I am delighted that we have been able to add even more sports than initially planned for the European Championships 2022: beach volleyball, sport climbing, table tennis and canoe sprint athletes will now also be competing for European Championship titles. Exactly 50 years after the 1972 Olympics, a top-class, vibrant and diverse sporting spectacle will once again take place in Munich. Published on 12 November 2019To mark the 50th anniversary of hosting the Summer Olympics, the Olympic Park Munich will be putting on a huge sporting celebration from 11 to 21 August 2022 as it welcomes the European Championships – the largest event to take place at the Olympic Park since the 1972 Summer Olympics.Over the years the Olympic Park has witnessed numerous sporting highlights, including the 1974 FIFA Football World Cup, the 1988 UEFA Football European Championships and the 2002 European Athletics World Championships as well as 30 more world championships, a dozen European championships and the 2013 X Games. The Olympic Park Munich has also played host to concerts by some of the most legendary names in music, from the Rolling Stones and AC/DC to Pink, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Rihanna.All in all more than 14,000 events have been held at the Olympic Park Munich since it opened in 1972, but none have been as big as the European Championships.“We are delighted to have been chosen to host this multi-sport event bringing together athletes from across Europe. Our team has worked very hard to achieve this, from the bidding process to the negotiations and the financing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the German national government, the regional government of Bavaria and Munich city council. Designing a multi-functional park in the heart of Munich that has hosted more than 14,000 events. However, since the summer of 1972, none of those events will compare to August 2022, when more than 4,700 athletes from across Europe will descend on the Bavarian capital to compete for more than 150 medals.

August 2022 sind die größte Veranstaltung, die der Olympiapark seit den Sommerspielen von 1972 erleben wird. Und im Olympiapark hat es schon viele Highlights gegeben! FIFA-WM 1974, Fußball-EM 1988, Leichtathletik-EM 2002! Weitere 30 Weltmeisterschaften, ein gutes Dutzend Europameisterschaften und die X Games 2013. Außerdem legendäre Konzerte internationaler Musikgrößen wie den Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Pink, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran oder Rihanna. Mehr als 14.000 Veranstaltungen seit 1972, aber keine so gigantisch wie die European Championships! „Wir sind überglücklich, diesen europäischen Multi-Sport-Event auszurichten. Da hat unser Team ganze Arbeit geleistet! Vom Bewerbungsprozess über die Vertragsverhandlungen bis hin zur Finanzierung. Ein großer Dank an den Bund, den Freistaat Bayern und unsere Landeshauptstadt München. Im Herzen von München schufen sie einen multifunktionalen Veranstaltungsort, der bis heute seinesgleichen sucht.
