Munich’s Olympiapark has been a role model for all sporting events in terms of sustainability in 1972 and is to this day. But the Local Organizing Committee wants more! Transport and mobility at the European Championships 2022 are to become climate neutral!
Therefore, incentives are to be created for the increased use of public transport. All visitors will therefore receive an included MVV ticket with their ticket purchase for the European Championships.
In addition, Munich has promoted cycling over the last 15 years with campaigns such as "Radlhauptstadt" (Cycling Capital) and the expansion of cycle lanes. In order to offer cyclists the greatest possible comfort at the venues, rental bikes and bike racks will be provided.
From August 11 to 21, 2022, Europe's best athletes will compete for European Championship medals in nine sports. With the European Championships, Munich will welcome the biggest sporting event since the 1972 Summer Olympics, with athletics, beach volleyball, canoe racing, climbing, cycling, gymnastics, rowing, table tennis and triathlon all in the mix.
The heart of the event is the Olympiapark, but the entire city will spruce up for a spectacular and incomparable experience. Competitions will also take place at the Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle, Olympic Regatta Centre, Messe München as well as at Königsplatz.
