Future Class of 22

Empowering our YOUTH through sports!

The seventh Count & Last project in March emphasises the promotion of grassroots and professional sports for teenagers and young adults. The European Parliament empowers young people with its "European Year of Youth" project in 2022. In line with that Munich 2022 has launched the Future Class of 22, where children and young people have the chance to follow in the footsteps of their sport idols and get excited about the European Championships. Specifically in times of the pandemic, this project aims to restore the joy of moving and bring the values of sport closer to our youth. It also creates opportunities for children and young adults to actively participate at the European Championships Munich 2022.

Sporting competitions

Sporting competitions

Pupils from first through tenth grade are offered the opportunity to participate in Bavaria-wide sporting competitions. The school competitions are a rare chance to compete against peers and to perform on the big stage. The offer is not only targeted at regular club members, but also at anyone who has always wanted to try out a new sport. The highlight will be the finals and award ceremonies of these school competitions, which will be held during the European Championships Munich 2022 at the official sporting venues.

Community

Community

Further, young people aged 14-20 can join the online community of the Future Class of 22. It provides online workshops, meet & greets with the Class of 22 athletes, "Join in!" activities and other challenges. Different focus topics are introduced on a monthly basis. Overarching, sport-relevant topics such as inclusion, environmental issues and mental health are discussed. It also guarantees exclusive insights into the nine sports of Munich 2022. Through the Future Class of 22 Community, young people's engagement will be promoted in the context of the Munich 2022 European Championships and beyond.
